Hello, Team,
I know the messaging has been confusing this evening. The latest is that only 12 month employees should report tomorrow and if they feel unsafe they should contact their supervisors. Fingers crossed for Tuesday! 🤞🏻
Pam
LRSD schools will be closed for students Mon., Feb. 2, due to icy conditions impacting bus routes. Employees will report to work: non-school. staff - 8:30-4:00; school-based staff 8:30-3:30 p.m. Road conditions will be checked again Mon. & families will be notified about the status of school for Tuesday.

Parents, did you cry when you found out school was out again tomorrow? Are the kiddos on your ever last nerve? Get them busy! K-2nd takes state tests in 44 days and 3rd-5th in 49 days! They need to be learning! 10 PBIS points for each square completed. 100 points for all squares. Print or screen shot, mark, and email to pam.dial@lrsd.org

LRSD wants to hear from you! The Little Rock School District is inviting parents, students, staff, and community members to join upcoming community meetings focused on the FY27 budget. These conversations are a chance to learn more about district priorities, ask questions, and share feedback before final decisions are made. The first meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Southwest Community Center (6401 Baseline Rd). The second meeting will be on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Henderson (401 John Barrow Rd). Both meetings will cover the same information. Come be part of the conversation as we plan responsibly for the future of LRSD.

We got this idea from another Arkansas Leader in Me school, Herbert Carter Global Community Magnet! How are you using our Leader in Me Habits during the snow days? Are you cleaning house? Baking or sledding together? Post a picture and comments on our Facebook, Instagram or X!

Due to inclement weather, LRSD schools and offices will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 26-27. LRSD will continue to monitor conditions and roadways and provide an update by Tuesday on the status of schools for the remainder of the week. Enjoy the snow, and stay safe and warm!

Good evening, Parents,
Please remember that Awards Assemblies for the 2nd Nine Weeks are tomorrow. 3rd-5th @ 1 PM. K-2nd @ 2 PM. It looks like the bad weather will wait until after school tomorrow!

Pam
Don't forget to look your best tomorrow! It's Picture Day! See you soon!
We will send our January Family calendar home on Tuesday, but wanted to let you know that Picture Day is Monday, January 12. You child should have brought home a LifeTouch envelope with information.
Good afternoon, Parents,
I apologize for the delay in notification but in the spirit of transparency, we wanted to inform you of an incident in a classroom yesterday. A student brought a kitchen knife to school, which was reported by classmates who saw it. The substitute teacher promptly alerted administration who confiscated the knife after being alerted by the classmates. While no immediate threat was indicated, we are grateful for the classmates who reported the incident. The student in question will be sanctioned according to the Student Code of Conduct. Parents, please remind your student of the potential danger and consequences of bringing such items to school. It takes all of us working together to ensure safe campuses and I appreciate the support you provide to McDermott daily. If you have questions, please feel free to contact my office.
Sincerely,
Pam Dial

Reading in the Rock at McDermott Elementary! ✨📚
McDermott Elementary is so proud to participate in Reading in the Rock, a wonderful book distribution supported by the City of Little Rock and LRSD!
Before the holidays our students were excited to choose five books of their very own, plus one additional book generously provided by the Smith Memorial Book Fund. While waiting for their turn to select books, the students built a snowman ornament. Students were also given a cool backpack to take the books home. Having books they can keep helps build a love of reading and gives students the opportunity to read anytime, anywhere.
Students have been encouraged to log their reading and return their reading logs after the holiday break. Students who turn in their logs will earn fun prizes as we continue to celebrate reading at McDermott!
Thank you to our community partners for supporting literacy and helping us inspire a lifelong love of reading in our students.
